AniGears Gear Couplings (AG and EA Series) are high-performance, torsionally rigid, flexible shaft couplings designed to transmit high torque between rotating shafts operating under demanding industrial conditions.
Torque is transmitted through accurately machined, hardened, and crowned gear teeth on the hubs, which engage with internal teeth on the sleeves. This design permits limited angular, parallel, and axial misalignment while maintaining compact dimensions and high torque capacity.
The AG Series (FGC Type) represents the heavy-duty range of Full Gear Couplings, available in Short Teeth (ST) and Long Teeth (LT) configurations to suit different torque and alignment requirements.
AniGears gear couplings are precision-engineered and supplied fully CED-coated for corrosion protection and long service life.

Compact and robust design ensures high torque transmission capability relative to coupling size.
External hub teeth are crowned to ensure uniform load distribution, reducing edge contact and stress under misalignment.
Allows simultaneous accommodation of angular, parallel, and axial misalignments without inducing excessive bearing load.
Allow greater angular flexibility and are recommended for drives where misalignment variations or shaft deflections are expected.
Provide higher torque capacity and improved load distribution due to larger contact area but allow slightly lower misalignment.
Metallic tooth engagement ensures positive torque transmission with negligible torsional wind-up, suitable for high-speed drives.
Seals can be replaced without disturbing hubs. Lubrication through grease nipples simplifies periodic servicing.
An AG Series gear coupling is a rigid and flexible gear coupling (FGC type – Full Gear Coupling) used to connect two rotating shafts. It transmits power through the friction of external hub gear teeth with inner involute teeth on a surrounding sleeve. The design provides greater power density than elastomeric couplings and can convey high torque in a small outer diameter.
For different mechanical demands we offer this line of industrial gear couplings in two tooth profiles: standard and oblique.
The AG gear coupling series is available in full-flex and half-flex versions. For long-term protection against environmental degradation, all of the components are coated with Cathodic Electro Deposition (CED) to protect against corrosion in chemical or humid environments. This series has a bore size from 14mm to 710mm, offering small motor connections and big motor drives. Check out our EA Series Gear Couplings for other heavy-duty options.
As a gear coupling supplier, AniGears manufactures power transmission components for harsh environments.
Installed at continuous rolling operations and high-speed drives to handle high temperatures.
Powers large kiln drives and ball mills that suffer heavy shock loads.
Overload and shaft misalignment tolerance, especially on heavy excavators.
Gear coupling for conveyor helps to connect the chains of a conveyor system for the long-distance bulk handling.
High shock absorption and torsional stiffness during aggregate crushing.
Acts as a strong gear coupling for rolling mill stands, ensuring accurate torque transmission in small spaces.
Couple high-horsepower boiler feed pumps and turbine compressor drives.
Drives main drying cylinders where speed and low-vibration performance are critical.
Depends on the CED-coated exterior to resist chemical fumes and acidic moisture.
Engineered for heavy-duty seasonal crushing with high torque peaking.
For different mechanical demands we offer this line of industrial gear couplings in two tooth profiles: standard and oblique.

Transmits maximum torque in a small footprint.
The gear teeth on the outside of the hub are crowned to provide proper surface contact and minimise edge stress.
The full flex AG gear coupling design has twin hubs for parallel, angular, and axial adjustment.
Short tooth or long tooth configurations improve system flexibility or peak load capacity.
No backlash rigidity assures instant torque delivery without wind-up.
With split sleeves or standard flange fasteners, inspection and seal replacement is fast and simple.
It requires less axial space than elastomeric seals, making it ideal for tight machinery retrofits.
Our fast delivery networks ensure an urgent transfer from our main production sites to your site.
Selecting the proper industrial gear coupling architecture prevents premature drivetrain failure:
Before choosing your drive, remember that AP Series Pin Bush Couplings use elastomeric elements to damp shocks, and AG Series gear coupling focus on raw torque.
| Parameter | AG Series Gear Coupling | Pin Bush Coupling (AP/AB Series) |
|---|---|---|
| Torque Capacity | Very High (up to 1,470,000 Nm) | Medium (lower torque range) |
| Misalignment Type | Angular + Parallel + Axial | Primarily angular + axial |
| Lubrication Required | Yes – EP2 Lithium Grease | No – utilizes elastomeric bushes |
| Shock Absorption | Limited (torsionally rigid) | Good (rubber element damping) |
| Maintenance | Periodic regreasing and seal checks | Replacement of worn bush elements |
| Best For | Rolling mills, crushers, heavy industry | Pumps, fans, light-to-medium drives |
| Speed Range | Up to 6,700 RPM (AG-101) | Up to ~3,500 RPM |
Flexible tyre couplings are perfect for damping severe misalignment and vibration caused by strong parallel misalignment, but they require a larger sealing envelope than an AG gear coupling.
| Parameter | AG Series Gear Coupling | Tyre Coupling |
|---|---|---|
| Torque Capacity | Very High | Medium–High |
| Vibration Damping | Low (metal-to-metal rigid) | High (rubber tyre absorbs resonance) |
| Operating Temperature | Up to 120°C (grease limit) | Up to ~70°C (rubber limit) |
| Lubrication | Required inside sealed cavity | Not required |
| Compact Design | Highly compact | Larger outer diameter |
| Best For | Steel plants, high-speed heavy drives | Pump sets, compressors, motor drives |
Chain arrangements offer a simple setup for low-speed machinery, but an industrial gear coupling provides higher precision and stability at elevated speeds.
| Parameter | AG Series Gear Coupling | Chain Coupling |
|---|---|---|
| Torque Capacity | Very High | High |
| Speed Capability | High speed across all frame sizes | Limited by chain dynamics |
| Lubrication | Sealed grease cavity with lip seals | Oil bath or open grease system |
| Compact Form | Compact outer dimensions | Larger width due to chain cover |
| Wear & Noise | Low noise, minimal wear | Higher noise and wear |
| Best For | High-speed industrial machinery | Low-speed general machinery |

Use these five engineering steps to determine which size of AG series gear coupling is correct for your system.
Find the actual kW power absorbed by the machine at rated speed. This is not the motor nameplate kW; derive it for starting and peak loads.
Multiply the absorbed power by the service factor for your type of application (e.g., 1.25 for conveyors and 1.5 for crushers) to get the design power.
Using our sizing metrics, find the coupling size at which the power rating at 100 RPM (scaled to your speed) is equal to or greater than the design power. Our standard AG gear coupling table covers AG-101 to AG-119.
Check that your frame size will allow your driver and driven shaft diameters to be within the min/max bore limits. Also, check the allowed angular and parallel misalignment limits in the field.
Check that your system's maximum RPM is not more than the limit of the size selected. Check that your system is running on EP2 grease and that the balance grade G6.3 is selected above 3,000 RPM.
